Elizabeth is a Licensed Professional Counselor
Associate (LPC-A) and Nationally Certified Counselor currently
practicing in Asheville, NC working with children, adolescents,
families, and individuals from a transpersonal, holistic, and wellness
(strengths based) approach. In addition to traditional therapy, she is
frequently requested for "wellness and goal oriented coaching"; life
purpose and spiritual exploration counseling; and has created and leads
several nature based/ outdoor therapeutic programs. She received her MS
in community counseling at Western Carolina University near Asheville,
NC and her BA in psychology from Drew University in Madison, NJ. She
studied sociology, women’s studies, and literature at Oxford University
in Oxford, England. She also worked on social justice projects at
Georgetown University; and has lived outside as a wilderness counselor
at a therapeutic wilderness program. Elizabeth has been observing life
from a therapeutic perspective since she was a child. Naturally inclined
towards empathy, understanding, and creative insight partnered with a
desire to help others directed her path into the counseling field where
she has been for the past 10 years. Elizabeth has worked with a variety
of populations, although mostly with troubled youth and their families.
She has also worked with adults with severe mental health issues like
schizophrenia, bipolar, and dual diagnoses. Some of the issues addressed
in counseling have been abuse, grief and loss, depression, addictions,
sexual offenses, attachment issues, adolescent at risk diagnoses
(Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, ADD, ADHD, etc.), work
and career related problems, parenting, divorce related parenting,
relationships, personal empowerment, life purpose, and spirituality. |
