Heather is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Counselor Associate (CCA) in the state of Alabama. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Counseling. Her specialties include Marriage & Family Counseling and Play Therapy. Heather has clinical experience as a casemanager in a transitional group home, an aftercare treatment program, and a homeless program. She is currently employed as an outpatient therapist counseling both adults and children. Heather has professional expertise in behavior disorders, depression, anxiety, adjustment, bipolar disorders, gender identity, grief and loss issues, and sexual or physical abuse. She facilitates a weekly "Self Expression" group for adults, utilizing creative art and music therapy. As a state of Alabama certified foster parent, she has gained meaningful experience related to birthparents, placement agencies, foster children, and adoptees. Heather and her family have adopted a child with special needs. She has been a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) since 1995 and holds a membership in the International Association for Play Therapy. Heather is a professional member of two international honor societies, Chi Sigma Iota and Kappa Delta Pi.
