Joyce Mink is a licensed clinical social worker residing in Tennessee. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and her graduate degree in social work from the University of Illinois: Jane Addams School of Social Work in 1988 and was licensed in Florida in 1995. Joyce began her doctoral studies before relocating to Tennessee but placed her studies on hold while her community recovered from hurricane damage and her relocation to Tennessee. She has returned to her studies and currently working on her dissertation. The title of her study is: Grandparent Headed Households Raising a Child with an Emotional Disturbance: Implications for Academic Achievement. She relocated to Tennessee in 2006 and became licensed in that state in 2007. She began her social work career in Chicago as a paraprofessional working as a teaching homemaker. Her role included working with families in their home and teaching them basic parenting skills. After she received her graduate degree she was promoted to a supervisory position and supervised 15 homemakers. She relocated to Florida in 1988 and worked in an acute care hospital as a medical social worker. While in this position she initiated, coordinated, developed, and facilitated a cancer support group for patients and families. Her additional experience includes adoption and foster care, hospice, developmental disabilities, mental health issues in respect to children and adults, and private practice. In her private practice she provided psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, gender issues, domestic violence, marital and family therapy, child abuse and neglect, aging, women’s issues, bereavement, parenting, and crisis intervention. Joyce uses an eclectic approach which respects the individual where they are at the time of intervention. Joyce currently works in the public school system in her community providing therapy to students with an emotional disturbance. Joyce also teaches psychology courses online for the University of Phoenix. |
