Kendra Moses earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Illinois Wesleyan University and a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. Kendra currently is a Private Consultant, providing psychotherapy, program planning, and staff training services to social service agencies. Prior to that, she was a psychotherapist at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, where she provided therapy for a wide range of issues to both adults and adolescents. Kendra also served as Clinical Director for the Department of Psychiatry's Division of Developmental Disabilities, gaining experience with a wide range of mental health needs and life challenges. As the parent of a child with a developmental disability, she has particular understanding of the issues and challenges of parenting a child with a disability. Kendra has developed a specialty working with victims of sexual abuse, and also enjoys working with people having "alternative" lifestyles. Her approach to counseling is that each person has unique strengths, but we often lose sight of them while dealing with the difficulties of life. Kendra sees her job as helping people peel off the layers of a problem, like peeling an onion, until they reach their inner strength and can see it once again. |
