Karen is a Master's level Social Worker
and a Registered Counselor in the State of Washington.
She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a
Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 1993, and she
obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from the
University of Washington in 1997. Karen has 12 years
experience in the field and has worked at Western State
Hospital as a social worker on the geriatric medical ward
. She has also worked as a case manager at a community
mental health agency, and served as an Emergency Room
Social Worker at St Francis Hospital for several years.
Karen has extensive experience working with older adults
suffering from dementia, and people suffering from severe
and persistant mental disorders. She is able to quickly
assess situations and provide brief therapy combined with
education to assist her clients in making lasting changes
in their lives. Karen believes education is the key to
recovery. She teaches her clients how to advocate for
themselves, fostering self reliance, and enabling them to
live healthy productive lives. Karen is a member of the
Washington Association of County Designated Mental Health
Professionals and has been a member of the National
Association of Social Workers. Karen loves to hike and
whenever the weather is nice she can be found hiking the
trails, or riding her Harley on the road. |
