Maryanne has enjoyed a highly successful career as a
counselor for thirty-three years. She received her BA in History form
Fordham University, her MS in Guidance and Counseling from Hunter
College and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from New
York University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National
Certified Counselor and National Certified Career Counselor. Maryanne
developed a Career Assessment program for Adolescents with Special
Needs. She has done career development with various populations and age
groups including Displaced Homemakers. Her dissertation dealt with
coping skills of women who were transitioning into the workforce after
being full time homemakers. She has conducted stress management seminars
and workshops for city employees, teachers of at-risk high school
students, elementary school teachers, communities of religious sisters,
and persons working with AIDS patients. She was co-coordinator of a
transitional housing program for women who were homeless and their
children. She initiated pastoral care for persons with AIDS at a large
inner city hospital. Maryanne lived and worked with various populations
and programs in Belize, Central America. She has taught counseling for
more than twelve years at the graduate and undergraduate levels in major
counseling programs at Loyola College in Maryland, College of Notre Dame
of Maryland, and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Her courses
include: Human Development, The Helping Relationship, Career
Development, Introduction to Personal Counseling, Stress: Dynamics and
Treatment, Serving the Adult Poor and Homeless, The Spirituality of
Dreams, and Counseling and Supervision Internship. Maryanne is a
Holistic Health Practitioner and Reiki Master. She teaches all levels of
Reiki, online and in person. She is a Yoga instructor with a specialty
in Gentle and Restorative Yoga. Maryanne believes in the spirituality of
healing. She has the unique ability to empower others to reach their
fullest healing potential. Maryanne has learned a great deal from
journeying with students and clients and continues to be enthusiastic
about her work. She feels she has the depth of compassion and
understanding to be with others in their healing struggles. She believes
in the individual’s ability to join with the universal forces to heal
all things. |
