Michelle Roberts is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona and Texas. She has worked at an inpatient treatment center for eating disorders for ten years. Michelle has studied at Texas State University (BA degree) and attended Ottawa University in Phoenix, Arizona (MA degree). Michelle also received a specialized degree in Trauma, Abuse and Deprivation. She is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). Within the ten years working at the inpatient treatment center, Michelle has received extended training in working with addictions, personality disorders, relapse prevention, obsessive compulsive disorders and marriage and family issues. She follows both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy models in her therapy. Michelle is also open to incorporating Spirituality into therapy realizing that this helps to create balance in people’s lives. She believes that all people have the ability to change and that addiction/ineffective behavior is something that develops over time and also takes time to work through. She believes that people need to understand why they have their addiction/ineffective behavior before they can change it. Some say that the eating disorder population is one of the most challenging populations to work with; however, within her ten years of working with this population her success rate was extremely high. She has a passion for counseling and sees the good in people. She will be honest with you and help you develop the skills you need to be able to handle the daily stressors in life that can sometimes be so very overwhelming.
