Michael lives in the South Island of New Zealand, but
he began his career in England, in 1983. He holds Post Graduate Diplomas
in Advanced Social Work (Children and Families) from Goldsmiths College
University of London, and in Advocating for Children from Otago
University of New Zealand. Michael’s career has included experience as a
frontline social worker in a children and families team, working with
elderly people, and working in the addiction field. Michael is a
counselor for Relationship Services (New Zealand’s premiere counseling
agency) providing couples and individual counseling, family therapy,
life coaching, anger management, parenting skills, professional
supervision, and facilitates education programs. Outside of Relationship
Services, Michael has been involved in training social workers and life
coaches. He has a very strong commitment to ongoing professional
development and is midway through further Post Graduate study. Michael
is a member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers.
Michael’s reputation is largely based on his ability to be genuinely and
warmly interested in his clients and their lives while using his
technical ability and experience to enable them to find their own
answers to the situations they face. Through his own experience of
migration, Michael has developed skills in working with people from
different cultures and he is experienced in counseling via the
internet. Michael has particular interest and skills in working with
people who are experiencing relationship and identity issues. |
