Nora's professional career began in 1970, and her interest in psychology has been an ongoing voyage. In 1973, she earned an M.S. in guidance from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. From 1970 until 1983, she taught in the public school systems in Ohio. From 1983 until 1988, Nora taught junior college in Clearwater, Florida. In 1992, she completed additional course requirements at Youngstown State University to sit for the "LPCC" exam in Ohio. Later, she also completed the field requirements that the state stipulates for clinical licensure. Nora worked at Eastern Mental Health, a comprehensive clinic with both inpatient and outpatient facilities, where her clients were primarily adults diagnosed with depressive symptoms. Nora also worked at a schizophrenic facility that was "community based" inpatient care. Later, she worked in the state of Pennsylvania with teenagers labeled "at risk" by the courts and mandated for therapy. These were primarily ADHD kids with ODD. Nora's background in teaching has been useful in maintaining contact with schools, home, students and patients. |
