Pam Rockwell is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 15 years experience in the counseling and teaching professions. She earned her EdS degree in Community and Agency Counseling with focus in Marriage and Family Therapy from Murray State University. While earning her degree, Pam conducted a therapeutic art program for individuals with developmental disabilities and with mental disorders. She has also instructed courses at Murray State University. Her internship in a chemical dependency counseling program resulted in published research on assessment and diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder. In her private practice, Pam works with individuals, families and children facilitating increased awareness of patterns of thought and behavior that hinder personal satisfaction and the development of positive relationships. As a mental health consultant to Head Start, she works closely with families assisting with parenting issues, socio-economic concerns, substance use issues, sexual abuse, and the challenges faced by single parents and members of blended family households. As the parent of a young child with Down Syndrome, Pam has worked several years with Kentucky’s statewide system of early intervention. She has provided counseling services to families and
consultative services in the drafting of state regulations, policies and procedures for implementation of federal and state regulations relative to young children with disabilities in educational settings. As administrator of grant funding through Family Matters of Washington DC, the Kentucky Developmental Disabilities Coalition, the Kentucky Foundation for Women and Very Special Arts Kentucky, Pam has created programs designed to enhance individual self esteem and enrich parent/child interactions.
