Ruth Martin is a licensed professional counsellor who received her Master's degree, specializing in Counseling Psychology, from McGill University in Montreal. Ruth has been counseling individuals and couples in private practice for over twenty years and has worked extensively with teens and parents through the school system. She is also an experienced consultant and group leader, having developed and led workshops in self esteem building, stress management, communication skills, assertiveness training and parenting skills. In 1997, Ruth won the Justine Harris Award for Excellence in Counseling from the Quebec Personnel Guidance Association. For the past three years, she has worked primarily in employment assistance, providing telephone counseling to individuals and couples who enjoy the convenience of talking from the privacy of their own homes or offices. Ruth specializes in assisting individuals and couples identify their goals for change and provides them with ideas and techniques to address such issues as stress (personal and in the workplace), depression, anxiety, grief, guilt, low self-esteem, communication skills, and relationship issues.
